Remember me?
September 24, 2007

Yeah, sometimes I blog here. About, oh, once a month; some really riveting content that keeps you coming back.

Yeah.

Well, I'm not sure how much I'm going to keep this thing updated, but now that I'm here typing, I might as well tell you what's going on.

I took some pictures of our house.

The baby is crawling like a little speed demon now. And pulling himself up to standing all the time. Suddenly, he's way more fun ... Yesterday was one of the most fun days we've ever had with him. He is just very playful and lively and curious.

We went to the Speedy Tolliver Fiddle and Banjo Fest yesterday, which was much more homey than I thought it would be. We listened to all the contestants (who were from a very wide range of skill levels) play old-time and bluegrass music for an hour and a half. It was at Lubber Run amphitheater, which was a very nice place to spend Sunday afternoon.

I've stopped shopping at the very posh, very expensive Harris Teeter and started shopping at the Safeway a little further away. You know how the Safeways in DC all have names? E.g., the Social Safeway (next to Bally's gym; pick up someone wearing spandex), the Soviet Safeway (always out of basics, like bread), the Spanish Safeway (Columbia Road, say no more), the Secret Safeway (a block off Wisconsin Avenue but you'd never know it was there).

Well, the Safeway I go to now has got to be the Sad Safeway. It's just a little dreary and dingy. It hasn't been remodeled into one of the mammoth shiny suburban Safeways. I have to dig through the old grocery carts to find one where the child's safety belt isn't broken. The produce section is really small and wilted. Even the shoppers look mildly depressed.

Keep it up! I like the pics and updates. Take your time...I'll check back. I need the connection back to civilization.
