It's the days that kill me
February 15, 2007

The nights are not that bad, I swear. I don't mind getting up two or three times a night to feed him; we are up for 30 minutes, quiet and calm, and we go right back to sleep.

It's the days like today that suck. Instead of eat-sleep-eat-play-sleep, like he was doing so well this week, it's eat-fuss-eat-fuss-sleep for 5 minutes-fuss-eat. It drives me batty. I have no idea what's different today from yesterday. Around 8:00 it might have been because he had to burp. An hour later, I changed his diaper, in case that was the reason he was screaming at me; the diaper wasn't wet, but when I picked him up I noticed a grain of rice (!) on the changing table. Maybe it was stuck in his pajamas? I gave him a bath to calm him down, which worked well, until I took him out of the warm bath and into the cold air and he gave a pitiful shriek of distress.

Finally he's asleep. In the magical swing, of course.

Comments

I think Nick lived in his swing - at home and at daycare. Who can predict what makes babies so crazy? And isn't it amazing how a day with a fussy baby can drag on forever? The freezing weather doesn't make it easy, since you can't just go for a quick walk around the block. Keep up those warm baths!!!
