Settling in
February 17, 2006

We accumulate the trinkets and talismans of permanence. We have added to our home over the past month:

  • Library card
  • CVS savings card
  • Giant savings card
  • Two (2) cell phones with contracts
  • DVD player
  • DSL (one-year contract)
  • Linksys wireless router, for DSL
  • One (1) set of 6'6" bookshelves
  • One (1) hand-me-down Ikea desk
  • Zipcar membership
  • Netflix membership
  • Peapod delivery

Oh, and I have a part-time job.

Yup, we'll be here for a while.

Yup, I'm thinking about restarting this website.

Welcome back to DC. I've really enjoyed your site the last few years.

I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but I feel like I'm missing Mali for you. Or maybe I'm missing you in Mali -- or reading about you in Mali, rather. I guess, for me, reading about your adventures in Mali has acted as a surrogate connection to my second home.

All the best with settling in back is the US and with starting up a new blog. I'd love to see some retrospective entries now that you're out of Africa! It has been real pleasure reading the Malian chapter of your blog, I look forward to the DC chapter. :)
