"Are you ready to get lost?"
November 16, 2005

I'm going to have some regrets when I leave Mali: not speaking French better, not speaking more than a dozen words of Bambara, not getting back to Dogon country again. But what I may regret most is borrowing season one of Lost on DVD this month -- this month during which I am wrapping up 18 months of work at Geekcorps, preparing to move, and, oh, WRITING A NOVEL.

I really didn't need to borrow 28 episodes of a totally addicting television show.

But I did. I've watched the first three and I'm pretty hooked. I like all the little mysteries and the intertwining stories. I know some of my friends back home watch it so don't spoil it for me!

And despite the temptations I've added 11,682 words to my novel this week.

ooooh...Lost! I am a big fan.

You are coming back! Yay! Even though back isn't the same back where I am, it is still closer than Mali!

P.S. Beautiful picture currently on your home page. Mont St. Michel was one of my favorite places in France.

I am thrilled to find your blog -- and though you are leaving Mali, I am just starting to re-experience it through your writing. Thank you.

P.S. Go Geekcorps!
