"Granny, thanks for pimping my ride!"

In the meantime, all I have to say is that watching "Pimp My Ride" in German is a very strange experience. - The good and bad from Budapest

We were glued to "Pimp My Ride" in Florence: "Peeeemp my ride!" First they played an American episode, dubbed in Italian, where a an old woman gave her granddaughter's car to the West Coast whatever-they're-called for pimping. Grandma turned out in a purple suit to match the new paint job on the old Honda Civic. Then they played a homegrown Italian episode; the ride was, of course, a Vespa.

Why is that show so popular outside the US? Is it even popular in the US?

Tony never watches TV and has nothing nice to say about any reality shows, but he secretly watches "Pimp My Ride" when I'm not around. He admitted it the other night and was kind of proud of it, for some reason.

You know the old train wreck adage... I think it applies. That or it is a dream show for the master control freak's need to manipulate the seemingly, limited frame work of the auto. But probably the majority of us are just stupid, how else do explain reality TV in general.
