NaNo progress
November 04, 2005

My novel progress is uneven. I had a great first day, took off writing and it just flowed, for over 2000 words. The second day wasn't quite as smooth. The third was bumpier still and I also decided to remove a major character, which meant cutting 1000 words I'd already written, so my final word count for the day was only 334.

Today I decided that cutting out those 1000 words went against the spirit of NaNoWriMo. This is not supposed to be about editing; this is about getting the proverbial Shitty First Draft out, so I can move on from there. Also, I'm not going to get much writing done today and I really need those 1000 words. (I left my laptop at work last night, so I didn't get any writing done this morning, and this evening is filling up with Belgian beer tastings and dinner with friends.)

I just put that major character back in chapter one, and my total word count is up to 5186. Not stellar, not even on track (I should be closer to 6668), but a couple good sessions this weekend will fix that.
