Weekend, in bullet points
March 20, 2005
  • Iced tea with lemon, no sugar. The beverage of choice for the hot season (second after water, of course).
  • The Red Balloon. Saw a book version on a friend's coffee table. I loved that movie when I was a kid.
  • Five men on camels, riding through our neighborhood Saturday night.
  • Mojitos at the new "Moroccan" restaurant on the increasingly crowded and neon-lit Bla Bla strip.
  • New in town: Pew grantee/New Yorker staffer researching the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat kidnappings in 2003.
  • Tamana Hotel's (not grand) "opening" of their courtyard; tattooed Frenchmen singing Nirvana's "Rape Me." "I'm not zee only one ... "
  • Afro-Cuban jazz at Akwaba, where, embarrassingly, we'd never been before last night, even though it's only a 15 minute walk from our house.
  • Sunday brunch matinee: Pancakes and Finding Nemo.
  • Lots of progress on a top-secret project. (I'll reveal it when it's ready, probably in two weeks).
