The funniest part of dinner last night was learning that the Six Million Dollar Man was only worth three million in France (Homme qui valait trois milliards).

But why? we asked our French dinner companion. They would have had to change the graphics, everything. Why not leave it at six million? "C'est trop," he shrugged.

So six million is too much, but three million francs is like, a totally reasonable price for a bionic man.

Huh. So it is. Obviously I haven't had to deal with any real large sums of money in French, even here, where it's 535CFA/1USD or so.

So he was the three billion franc man. But wait -- we've forgotten to factor in the exchange rate. Any clue how many Francs you got for your dollar in the 1970s?
