LOTR I finished the Two Towers. I thought I would take a break now, before reading the Return of the King. (My modest goal is to read it before the movie comes out in December 2003). But man, Tolkien really leaves you hanging at the end! I might have to move on directly to book 3 for some resolution.
Peter Jackson must have felt the same way, because the Fellowship of the Rings movie doesn't leave you with the questions that the book does. The movie actually ends with action from the beginning of The Two Towers book, I assume to give audiences a little closure. Tolkien can leave with you questions that make you keep turning pages, but Jackson can't tease you too much if you have to wait a year for the next installment.
Last night: bluegrass at Madam's Organ.
