We picnicked at Carter-Barron on hummus, lentils, homemade lebna, tomato-cucumber salad, black and green olives, and mango lassis, then watched this year's Shakespeare Free-For-All play, Two Gentlemen of Verona, in the amphitheater. Kerri had just finished saying how much she hated modernized Shakespeare when the stage came into view: apparently, the play would be set in 1950s New Jersey. Personally, I am a sucker for Shakespeare in all forms, and had no problem with this. Tthe production was colorful, lively, and quick, if not memorable or thought-provoking. I've grown to appreciate physical comedy, and the Shakespeare Theater actors did a good job, keeping some of the longer scenes visually engaging with background action.
